Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including pediatric dentistry utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Perform dental x-rays and intraoral imaging with precision, adhering to all safety protocols and radiation safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, processing dental equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent infection transmission.
- Take vital signs and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient assessments and treatment planning.
- Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs.
- Support administrative tasks by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments via patient management software, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive dental documentation and dental records with integrity.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with extended functions certification.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and clinical procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry.
- Hands-on experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and patient management.
- Knowledge of dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and other modern imaging tools.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively.
- Experience working within a fast-paced dental clinic environment that emphasizes clinical confidentiality policies and infection control standards.
