Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a wide range of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, with precision and professionalism
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining an aseptic technique to ensure infection control standards are met
- Take and develop X-ray images in compliance with HIPAA regulations and safety protocols, utilizing digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate medical documentation
- Record vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) efficiently while ensuring confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care to promote ongoing dental wellness
- Support the front desk team by performing dental receptionist duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and managing patient flow
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to accurately assist with procedures and documentation
- Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners for precise diagnostics
- Familiarity with dental software platforms such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for scheduling, records management, and billing processes
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and procedures tailored for young patients
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team
