Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting duties including taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and providing post-treatment instructions with clear communication of dental terminology.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow to enhance overall clinic experience.
- Maintain dental equipment and ensure all dental sterilization procedures are followed meticulously to uphold safety standards.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent credential required; prior experience in dental assisting preferred.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies essential for accurate documentation and patient care.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques, oral surgery assistance, endodontics procedures, prosthodontics support, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate dental equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about treatments and oral health practices effectively.
