Experienced Dental Assistant | General Dentistry, Surgery, Implants & Sedation
Santa Rosa Beach Family Dental | Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Experience Required: 3–5+ Years | Full-Time | Competitive, Negotiable Compensation
We're Looking for Experience. We're Looking for Excellence.
Be the Calm in the Room. Be the Confidence Behind Exceptional Dentistry.
At Santa Rosa Beach Family Dental, we're looking for more than someone who can assist chairside. We're seeking a seasoned, highly skilled Dental Assistant who brings confidence, clinical knowledge, professionalism, and the ability to support a doctor through everything from routine general dentistry to advanced surgical procedures.
This is not an entry-level position.
Our ideal candidate has a strong foundation in general dentistry, extensive chairside experience, and the clinical ability to assist with surgical procedures, dental implants, and sedation dentistry.
We want someone who can anticipate the doctor's next move, remain composed during complex procedures, and help create an exceptional patient experience.
If you're an experienced Dental Assistant who takes pride in your clinical abilities and wants to work in an environment where those skills are valued, we would love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As an experienced Dental Assistant, you will support our doctors across a broad range of general, restorative, and surgical dental procedures.
General Dentistry & Restorative Care
- Assist with comprehensive examinations, fillings, crowns, bridges, extractions, and other general dentistry procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Anticipate the doctor's needs and maintain an efficient chairside workflow.
- Capture diagnostic-quality digital radiographs, clinical photographs, and digital impressions.
- Perform expanded functions within the scope of your Florida training and certifications.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment notes.
Surgery, Implants & Advanced Procedures
- Assist with surgical extractions, bone grafting, implant placement, and implant restorations.
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments.
- Understand surgical instrumentation, implant components, and surgical workflows.
- Support complex restorative and full-mouth rehabilitation procedures.
- Demonstrate confidence and efficiency during lengthy, advanced procedures.
Sedation Dentistry
- Assist with sedation procedures under the direction of the treating dentist.
- Understand sedation preparation, patient monitoring support, and recovery protocols within the assistant's authorized scope.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency equipment, safety protocols, and clinical documentation.
- Remain calm, attentive, and prepared throughout procedures.
Patient Care & Clinical Leadership
- Create a comfortable, reassuring environment for every patient.
- Communicate treatment and post-operative instructions clearly.
- Maintain exceptional infection-control, sterilization, OSHA, and HIPAA standards.
- Support inventory management, equipment maintenance, and operatory organization.
- Communicate effectively with doctors, clinical teammates, and administrative staff.
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to clinical excellence.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on dental assisting experience.
- Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification/training.
- Current dental radiography (X-ray) certification recognized in Florida.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Strong experience in general dentistry and restorative procedures.
- Experience assisting with surgical procedures, dental implants, and sedation dentistry.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy, instrumentation, infection control, and clinical workflows.
- Ability to work confidently and efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Highly Preferred Experience
- Advanced implant surgery and full-mouth rehabilitation.
- IV sedation and surgical patient preparation.
- Digital scanning and modern dental technology.
- Open Dental practice management software.
- Experience supporting multiple doctors and complex treatment schedules.
- Previous clinical leadership or mentoring experience.
The Professional We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Anticipates rather than waits to be asked.
- Is confident in their abilities but remains teachable.
- Understands the importance of clinical precision and patient safety.
- Can transition seamlessly between routine general dentistry and complex surgical procedures.
- Remains calm and professional under pressure.
- Takes ownership of their responsibilities and holds themselves to high standards.
- Communicates clearly and respectfully.
- Is dependable, organized, and committed to teamwork.
- Has a genuine passion for dentistry and delivering exceptional patient care.
