Pediatric Dental Front Office
Job Description
Personality Matters
Some offices want someone who can answer a phone. We want someone who can make a nervous four-year-old giggle, calm a worried parent, and keep a busy schedule running smoothly. Great Whites is an independent, family-owned practice in Huntington that’s been part of this community since 2009. We’re not a corporate chain. We don’t rush families through — we take the time to make every child feel safe, and every parent feel heard, starting the moment they walk in or pick up the phone. We’re looking for the person who makes that happen at the front desk.
Who We’re Looking For
You remember a patient’s name, notice when a child is nervous before anyone else does, and keep the day welcoming even when it’s busy. You stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and know when to ask for help — and when you ask, you’ll get it.
Personality matters most to us. You don’t need dental experience — we’ll teach you the skills. And if you bring dental front desk, Dentrix, insurance, billing, or coordinator experience, that’s genuinely valuable to us, and it’s reflected in your pay.
What You’ll Do
Set the tone — greet families, manage check-in and checkout, and answer phones with warmth. Keep the day running — manage the schedule in Dentrix, coordinate with the clinical team, and head off problems early.
Handle the details — collect payments, assist with insurance eligibility verification, and keep records accurate. Protect patient trust — follow HIPAA and privacy standards in every interaction. Be part of the team — join morning huddles and help everyone finish the day together.
What You Bring
Required
At least 1 year in front desk, reception, customer service, healthcare, childcare, hospitality, or another people-facing role A phone manner that makes people feel welcome, basic computer skills, and a high school diploma or equivalent Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred — please apply even if you don’t check every box Dental or medical office experience; Dentrix or similar software Insurance, billing, or treatment/financial coordinator experience Experience working with children
Pay
$22–$30 per hour, based on experience and role fit. The higher end is for candidates who bring dental front desk, Dentrix, insurance, billing, or coordinator experience and can contribute quickly. Personality, reliability, and warmth matter at every level.
Schedule
Part-time (3 weekdays, ~24–28 hrs/week) or full-time (4 weekdays, ~34–38 hrs/week), depending on the right candidate. Both include alternating Saturday mornings.
Saturday mornings are part of the role — usually 25–27 Saturdays per year. Because of holidays and schedule adjustments, there may occasionally be three consecutive Saturdays. The schedule is set in advance and stays consistent week to week.
Your scheduled hours are guaranteed. We don’t cut hours on slow days. When you commit to your schedule, we commit to yours.
Office hours: Mon–Tue 8:40–6:00 · Wed–Thu 8:40–6:30 · Fri 8:40–5:00 · Sat 7:40–1:00
Benefits
Eligibility varies by full-time or part-time status. Benefits include:
Health insurance for full-time employees — the practice pays 50% of the individual premium 401(k) profit-sharing — recently about 5% of your eligible salary, and you don’t need to contribute your own money to receive it (subject to plan terms)
Paid time off — 1 week part-time; 2 weeks full-time, rising to 3 weeks after 5 years
Paid sick time, bereavement leave, and paid holidays (New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after, and Christmas, when they fall on your scheduled workday)
Free cleanings and braces for you and eligible family, plus in-scope operative care we can perform in-house (specialty care such as periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery isn’t covered)
Training and Support
You won’t be thrown in. You’ll start by working alongside an experienced team member, then gradually take on phones, scheduling, Dentrix, payments, insurance basics, HIPAA, and parent communication, with check-ins through your first 90 days.
And the front desk is not an island. Schedule changes, late arrivals, insurance questions, balances, and upset-parent conversations are handled as a team. You won’t manage difficult situations alone — when you need backup, you ask for it, and that’s exactly how it should work.
Room to Grow
For the right person, strong front desk team members can grow over time into treatment coordination, financial coordination, insurance, or billing. Growth depends on performance, reliability, teamwork, role availability, and practice needs.
Why Great Whites
We’re small on purpose — everyone here knows each other, and you’re not a number. Leadership is accessible: our owner practices alongside the team, so when you need something, you talk to a person, not a portal. We’ve been here since 2009, and we’re still growing. And the best days here are the ones where a scared kid walks out giving high-fives. That’s what we’re building toward, every single day.
Our Hiring Process
We hire carefully because fit matters both ways. It starts with a short video conversation with our office manager. Candidates who move forward are invited for a paid morning working interview, so you can meet the team, see how the day really runs, and decide for yourself whether this is the right place. We think the time benefits candidates as much as it benefits us.
How to Apply
Apply with your resume. If you’d like, tell us why this role and practice feel like a fit — we read every one. Great Whites Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, familial status, military status, predisposing genetic characteristics, arrest or conviction record (consistent with applicable law), status as a victim of domestic violence, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. This role involves sitting or standing at a reception desk for extended periods, operating standard office equipment, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and communicating clearly in a busy, child-friendly environment.
