Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental concerns to inform treatment plans.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience working in dental clinics or dental offices with proficiency in dental terminology and documentation review.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, records management, and billing.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles when working with children or pediatric patients.
