Duties
- Assist periodontists during a variety of surgical and non-surgical procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and organized according to infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage electronic medical records using OpenDental document treatment details accurately and efficiently
- Support patient check-in and check-out processes as a dental receptionist, including verifying insurance information and updating medical documentation
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures to ensure patient safety during treatments
- Maintain aseptic techniques and proper infection control practices to uphold the highest standards of hygiene within the clinic
- Educate patients on oral health care, dental terminology, and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing wellness
Experience
- Previous experience working in a surgical dental clinic environment is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Familiarity with dental assisting procedures such as chairside assisting and taking vital signs is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology enhances your ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients
- Experience with EMR systems like OpenDental is advantageous for managing digital records seamlessly
- Understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes is essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment
- Exposure to pediatric dentistry or working with diverse patient populations will be considered a plus
