Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
  • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols
  • Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology to aid diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
  • Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and supporting four-handed dentistry practices
  • Monitor vital signs and ensure patient comfort throughout procedures while demonstrating excellent patient care skills
  • Support administrative tasks such as patient management software updates, appointment scheduling, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation
  • Experience with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient medical documentation and record keeping
  • Strong understanding of infection control standards including sterilization procedures, healthcare infection prevention, and aseptic techniques
  • Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely and accurately while adhering to radiation safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and oral surgery procedures to support diverse patient needs
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry and general healthcare settings
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient management, team collaboration, and documentation accuracy
