Duties

  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations and assessments on pediatric patients, including medical history review and oral health evaluations.
  • Diagnose dental conditions using advanced medical imaging and clinical findings, developing personalized treatment plans aligned with best practices in pediatric dentistry.
  • Deliver a wide range of dental services such as dental cleanings, restorations, extractions, endodontic procedures (root canals), orthodontic interventions, prosthodontics, dental implants, oral surgery, and sedation/anesthesiology when appropriate.
  • Utilize dental terminology accurately to communicate diagnoses and treatment options clearly to patients and their guardians.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations, ensuring all patient records are complete and up-to-date.
  • Apply aseptic techniques and infection control protocols diligently to uphold a safe clinical environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient care efficiency and comfort.
  • Manage client communication professionally, providing education on oral hygiene practices tailored for children and their families.
  • Use practice management software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, Dentrix to document treatments, schedule follow-ups, and manage patient data efficiently.

Requirements

  • Valid state dental license with certification in pediatric dentistry or relevant specialty credentials.
  • Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong focus on pediatrics; previous dental clinic or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with dental practice management software including Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia administration techniques suitable for pediatric patients; familiarity with anesthesiology standards is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare diagnosis processes, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards.
  • Ability to perform dental procedures such as extractions, root canal therapy, orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and implant placement confidently.
  • Commitment to infection control practices and adherence to HIPAA regulations safeguarding patient privacy.
  • Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Knowledge of anatomy relevant to pediatric dentistry along with proficiency in medical imaging techniques.
