Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during various dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and assisting with patient management software to schedule appointments and follow-up visits.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by processing dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to operate dental x-ray machines safely and accurately; certification in dental radiography is preferred.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
