Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will perform advanced chairside procedures, assist with complex dental treatments, and support the delivery of exceptional patient care. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of clinical procedures and infection control protocols, will ensure a smooth and efficient dental practice environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your skills in general dentistry and specialized areas such as prosthodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics, while contributing to the health and confidence of our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and oral surgery treatments with precision and professionalism
  • Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary crowns, fabricating provisional restorations, and taking detailed dental impressions
  • Operate and maintain dental equipment including 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and sterilization devices in accordance with infection prevention management policies
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality
  • Take high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging to support accurate diagnoses while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with patient management before, during, and after procedures to ensure comfort and safety
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments efficiently and following infection control standards for sterilization and aseptic technique
  • Support the front desk by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and ensuring seamless communication between clinical and administrative teams

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with expanded functions certification or equivalent training; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus
  • Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, dental terminology, oral surgery support, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry practices
  • Strong knowledge of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA compliance standards, infection prevention policies, and medical documentation protocols
  • Ability to perform dental instrument processing accurately while maintaining strict infection control standards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients about treatment plans using clear medical terminology
  • Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with proficiency in medical terminology related to healthcare infection prevention and control
