Job Description

Associate Dentist for Fee-for-Service Private Practice - One Day Per Week with possibility for more days in near future

Dr. Eric Batterton, DDS is a well-established, growing private practice in Delaware, Ohio, seeking an Associate Dentist for an initial 1-day-per-week opportunity, with potential to expand to additional days as patient volume grows.

This is a great opportunity for a dentist who values quality dentistry, long-term patient relationships, and a stable, experienced team—without the pressure of working in a high-volume corporate environment.

The practice is 100% fee-for-service, has an established patient base, and has remained consistently busy with very little marketing. For the right dentist, this position could grow into a larger long-term role and potentially lead to a future buy-in or buyout opportunity.

Schedule & Growth Opportunity

The initial opportunity is ideally one day per week, with Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday preferred.

The goal is to give the associate a dedicated day in the office to establish themselves, build relationships with patients, and grow their restorative patient base.

As patient volume and production support additional days, there is potential to expand the schedule to 2 or more days per week.

A note about hygiene

We want to be transparent about how the position is expected to develop.

An associate working one day per week initially would not be expected to perform hygiene as part of that schedule.

If an associate wants to work additional days before there is enough restorative dentistry to support those days, they may be asked to perform some hygiene alongside restorative/general dentistry during the initial growth period.

This is intended to be temporary. The goal is to transition the associate toward primarily restorative dentistry as quickly as the practice's patient volume and production can reasonably support it.

The exact timeline will depend on patient demand, production, and the associate's schedule. The associate's participation in hygiene is intended to help the practice bring in and serve more patients while the associate builds their own restorative patient base.

Current office hours include:

Tuesday: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM and 2:00–6:15 PM
Wednesday: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM and 2:00–6:15 PM
Thursday: 6:30 AM–approximately 2:00 PM, no lunch
Friday: Possibility for the right candidate

The schedule can be discussed based on the dentist's availability and the needs of the practice. Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are preferred.

Compensation
$70–$100 per hour guaranteed starting compensation, based on experience
Transition to 30% of net collections, less lab fees, after an initial transition period, or sooner if production supports the model
The length of the initial guaranteed-compensation period can be discussed based on experience and demonstrated production
Why Join Our Practice?
100% fee-for-service — We are not contracted with dental insurance fee schedules, creating strong earning potential for an associate. We will bill insurance when applicable, but are not bound by insurance fee schedules.
Established patient base — The practice is busy and growing with minimal marketing.
Exceptional team stability — Our front desk team member has been with us for 10 years, and our hygienists have been here for 10, 16, and 19 years.
Experienced support team — 7 team members plus the dentist, including 2 dental assistants.
Independent private practice — Work directly with Dr. Eric Batterton in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Dedicated opportunity to build your own patient base — The initial plan is for the associate to have a dedicated day in the office to see their own patients while Dr. Batterton focuses on administrative work, consultations, and larger cases.
Potential for long-term growth and ownership — As the associate's patient base and production grow, there may be opportunities for additional days, additional treatment capacity, and eventually a buy-in or buyout arrangement.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for a dentist who is:

Committed to high-quality, comprehensive dentistry
Focused on patient relationships and long-term care
Comfortable with bread-and-butter general dentistry, including fillings, crowns, bridges, implant crowns, dentures, and partials
Interested in building a positive, long-term relationship with the practice
Interested in gradually growing their schedule and patient base
Comfortable with the possibility of performing some hygiene temporarily if choosing to work additional days before restorative volume has developed

Experienced dentists are welcome, and exceptional new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Advanced procedures are a plus, but excellent general dentistry and patient care are what matter most.

Growth & Potential Ownership Opportunity

This is the first time Dr. Batterton has brought an associate into the practice.

The practice has remained consistently busy while doing very little marketing, and Dr. Batterton is interested in gradually reducing his workload while creating an opportunity for another dentist to grow with the practice.

The initial plan is for the associate to have a dedicated day to see their own patients. As the associate's patient base and production grow, there may be opportunities to expand into additional days and increase treatment capacity.

For the right dentist, this could eventually lead to a buy-in or buyout opportunity after establishing a strong relationship with the practice.

Dr. Batterton would ideally like to continue working at least part-time for a period of time, so the long-term arrangement can be flexible depending on what works best for both the associate and the practice.

Ownership is not required, however. This can also be an excellent long-term opportunity for a dentist who simply wants to work in a stable, established private practice with a strong team and loyal patient base.
