Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during examinations, procedures, and treatments, including restorative work, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays and operate medical imaging equipment while following strict infection prevention management protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic health records (EHR) systems OpenDental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and addressing patient questions to promote comfort and understanding.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies diligently while handling sensitive medical documentation and records.
- Support dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of infection control in the clinic.
- Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to improve workflow efficiency and patient experience.
- Assist with dental instrument processing and ensure all dental equipment is properly maintained and sanitized after each use.
- Support pediatric dentistry patients by creating a friendly environment that eases anxiety and promotes positive experiences.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Pre-dental students are welcome to work as part time and we will help you the application.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and familiarity with dental equipment including 3D scanners when applicable.
- Experience operating patient management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control expertise.
- Ability to take accurate digital dental x-rays and perform oral surgery assistance when needed.
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry; ability to interpret medical imaging is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures clearly to patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is required.
- Fluent in Ukraine or Russian is a plus.
