Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, using chairside assisting techniques.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in line with dental x-ray safety standards.
  • Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Provide patient care by explaining procedures, managing patient comfort, taking vital signs, and answering questions about treatments.
  • Operate patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to schedule appointments, update records, and facilitate efficient workflow.
  • Maintain dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.
  • Support the dental team with administrative duties as a dental receptionist when needed, including greeting patients and managing appointment schedules.

Skills

  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR systems).
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
  • Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners.
  • Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental sterilization procedures.
  • Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Skilled in chairside assisting across various specialties like oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Excellent patient management skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
  • Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with clinical confidentiality policies.
