Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all tools are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including intraoral and extraoral images, using dental imaging technology such as 3D scanners when applicable.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and document medical documentation with precision to support comprehensive patient care.
- Ensure strict infection prevention management by following dental sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control standards.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to foster understanding.
- Support the dental reception area by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative duties as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other patient management systems.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical procedures across various specialties like endodontics and prosthodontics.
- Experience with dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools.
- Expertise in infection control protocols, dental sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient management and collaboration within the dental team.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to dentistry and general healthcare practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle medical documentation accurately while respecting patient privacy laws such as HIPAA.
