Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices, adhering strictly to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and ensuring patient safety through proper use of dental x-ray technology.
- Manage patient records using advanced patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures clearly, managing patient anxiety, and assisting with chairside assisting duties using dental terminology effectively.
- Perform dental instrument processing including sterilization, inventory management, and ensuring all dental instruments are ready for use in four-handed dentistry practices.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Skill
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties.
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray units, 3D scanners, medical imaging tools, and other clinical devices safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining treatments to patients of all ages while maintaining professionalism within clinical confidentiality policies.
- Familiarity with medical documentation standards related to vital signs recording and medical records management.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting four-handed dentistry practices while maintaining high standards of infection prevention management.
