Dental Assistant
Job Description
Overview
Build real relationships with your patients—and work alongside a dentist who genuinely values the care you provide. At Smiles for Miles Family Dentistry, we’re a personal, single-dentist practice with wonderful patients we truly get to know. We value efficiency, but never at the expense of quality dentistry or doing what is right for the person in the chair. As Dr. Salm returns to the office following cancer treatment, we’re looking for a Dental Assistant who shares that commitment and wants to be an important part of our practice. If you take pride in your work, care about your patients, and put real effort into helping them, that effort will be noticed and sincerely appreciated here. Your contribution matters—to our patients, to our practice, and to Dr. Salm personally. We would love to hear from you today!

- Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Open Dentalt, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient management software, and assisting the dental receptionist with front-office duties as needed.
- Maintain dental equipment functionality by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues related to dental instruments and 3D scanners when applicable.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a busy dental clinic environment; experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation efficiently.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures including X-ray techniques and oral surgery assistance.
- Familiarity with infection control standards, sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
- Ability to operate dental equipment safely and effectively while adhering to infection prevention management policies.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medical documentation and patient management software use.
