Pediatric Dental Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator (Cross-Trained)
Position Overview
Smile Academy Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a friendly, energetic, and motivated team member to join our growing pediatric dental practice. This unique role combines both clinical dental assisting and front office responsibilities, allowing the right candidate to become an essential part of our patient experience from the first phone call to the completion of treatment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values teamwork, and is excited to grow alongside a modern, relationship-focused pediatric dental practice.
Position Type: Part-Time with Transition to Full-Time as the Practice Grows
As our office continues to expand, this position is expected to transition into a full-time role based on patient volume and practice growth.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Dental Assisting
- Assist the pediatric dentist during examinations and treatment procedures
- Prepare and disinfect treatment rooms
- Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols
- Take dental radiographs and intraoral photographs
- Provide chairside support during restorative procedures, crowns, extractions, and sedation appointments
- Educate patients and parents regarding oral health and postoperative instructions
- Monitor inventory and maintain clinical supplies
Front Desk Responsibilities
- Answer phones and greet patients and families
- Schedule appointments and manage the daily schedule
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain patient information
- Collect payments and explain financial arrangements
- Assist with treatment coordination and recall scheduling
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Help create a welcoming and positive patient experience
Qualifications
- Dental assisting experience preferred
- Pediatric dental experience is a plus, but not required
- Dental assisting certification and radiology certification preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working with children and families
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with dental software is preferred
